apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Pauline's Office of One's Own

If Virginia Woolf is right and every woman needs a room of one's own, perhaps every little girl needs an office of one's own. You may dread going to work, but kids are often under the impression that it's fun. We spent many hours playing "travel agent" when we were young and loved sending our sisters on trips to exotic locales we found in the encyclopedia. Here is young Pauline's office (handed down from her older brother Moritz) before and after a re-do. We think both are equally cute!

The office was made by Pauline's dad and decorated by her mom, Yvonne. When they moved back to Germany from Mexico Yvonne repainted it and changed the fabric backing (a fun Amy Butler print chosen by Pauline). When Yvonne was young she dreamed of a little place where she could draw and study so she was especially pleased to create this for her children.

Perhaps Pauline would like to track inventory and do bookkeeping for her brother Jakob's supermarket?

I dreamed of a place like this when I was a kid.
