Parents seem to shy away from using purple in their children's rooms. And we can understand why - it's a strong color and if not done carefully could look like you hired Barney as your decorator. But this room by Amie Weitzman is a perfect example of how purple, in small and subtle doses, can be really lovely for kids.
Notice how Weitzman, an interior decorator, used different shades of purple ranging from lavender to periwinkle to avoid a predictable matchy-matchy look. Purple paint on the ceiling and part of the wall are muted enough not to interfere with the airy feel of the room and the purple backdrop to the bold silhouette is unexpected and memorable.

My childhood bedroom was painted lavender so I definitely think purple or any shade of it is great for a room, if done right :)
