The original room's color scheme was orange, blue and green. We didn't bother painting the walls because we thought the white would be more soothing and were happy with pops of color coming from the furniture and accessories. Now, we are definitely looking to paint and may still consider keeping the green in Vincent's room as green is his favorite color.

Among the items we think we'll keep are the curtains and matching pillow cases, the Ikea table and chairs, the white stacking shelves from Urban Outfitters and the white LACK shelf from Ikea.

As for the bed, my husband, who does woodworking as a hobby, is thinking about building some sort of loft bed for Vincent.

Our intent is to create something fun, that won't cost us an arm and a leg and that will grow with Vincent. Here are some of the ideas and pieces of inspiration we've culled from this site:

The ideal loft my husband has in mind is something in between the Perludi Loft Bed and the Kids' House by Studiomama -- but at a much simpler and smaller scale.

We love the idea of a pet cage in the room and Lisa Mahar's living room is proof that it can work in a nicer room. Perfect for a guinea pig, perhaps?

For his growing book collection, we'd love a bookcase similar to the one found in Oscar's room.

Clusters of artwork, like those seen in Sebastian's room, add an element of charm and whimsy to a room.

These are just some preliminary ideas we're tossing around. We plan on making the most of the items in Vincent's room, so wish us luck! We'll keep you updated the further we progress.
