What Fall Family Activites Are You Doing This Weekend?

100209-pumpkin.jpg With the sound of crunchy leaves and hoodies and in some places, coats coming out of the closet — you know fall is finally here. For many cities this is one of the last weekends for Farmer's Markets, there's apples to be picked, and pumpkins to be found. Tell us what's on your weekend agenda, after the jump!

Some of our favorite memories from when we were children were the outdoor fall activities that brought fabulous things into our home. Bushels of apples across the kitchen waiting to be peeled, sliced and canned, leaf clean up with the parents outside (although we worked mainly in the "destroy the pile" department), the last of Farmers Markets bring crazy pumpkins and squash to our stoop and kitchen table, plus you can't forget hay rides and visits to local farms!

What's on your weekend agenda? Let us know in the comment below?

fall is my favorite season! theres a place called apple hollar, here in wi, to go apple picking, they have hayrides, bounce houses, and a jungle gym, as well as a restaurant.

we bought our first house and we have a really big pretty crab apple tree in the front yard, which we will be making and hanging ghosts from... and breaking out the rest of the fall and halloween decorations!

this weekend is the end of the first grading period at my high school, so I am grading all weekend long.

next weekend though, I am planning on taking my daughter to a pumpkin patch about an hour away where they have hayrides and a maze and apples and all kinds of fun things.

yes, she is only 4 months, and may not really appreciate it, but at least I'll get some adorable pictures!

HA! That photo (so cute) completely reminds me of the "pumpkin farms" I went to as a kid in NY... they were all trucked down from upstate and scattered in an empty field!! Now I know what a real pumpkin farm looks like... with the crazy vines that you trip over while trying to cut off the pumpkinds with a scary utility knife. I can't wait for next weekend w/my kids.

@ erinpearce... wow. We live near Apple Hollar, too. That place is always packed & crazy! Gotta love fall...

I was dying to go to a pumpkin patch but I always have to travel for work in the middle of October. Then it's going to be 40 degrees and rainy this weekend. Bleh. Provided the weather improves, hopefully later in the month we'll go to a Halloween event at the zoo and hopefully we'll make our pumpkin patch trip.
