Child: Claire, almost 2 weeks old
Inspiration: My sister's favorite childhood story was "The Little Prince," so when she got pregnant she knew she wanted a room based on that, regardless of the sex of the baby. I wanted to do a modern take on the theme, and so when we found the Skip Hop bedding we decided to base the color scheme on that.
Tip for Using Color: Don't be afraid! I think oftentimes people get caught in the trap of "traditional" baby colors and feel they need to conform. Remember -- mom and dad are the ones that will actually remember their time in the room, so make sure the colors are pleasurable to them!
Colors Used: The wall color (non-white) is Behr paint color Freshwater. The red accents (shelves, lamp shade, chair cushion) are just Ikea products, and I chose dyed raw wool to match to felt the birds on the custom mobile I made. Next step -- I want to redo the floor!
