Name: Rebecca
Location: Oakland, CA
Child: Eleanor, 16 mos
Inspiration: When I started thinking about the nursery, I knew that I wanted it to be a bright and happy space. The color palette came from a print I bought in Vietnam. It's a surprisingly cheerful bit of communist propaganda, lots of red, orange, blues and of course pink. (The print didn't make it into any of my entry photos.)
(More of Rebecca's inspiration below the jump.)

Initially, the room was going to be all white with punches of color. After painting the walls several shades of white, I did a 180 and painted the room bright pink. I figured if there was a place to show zero restraint, this was it.
I'm not sure how much the room will reflect on its inhabitant. I would be delighted if Eleanor grew into a bright and happy little girl. So far, things are looking pretty good.
Tip for Using Color: I went really safe with the big ticket items, all white. And took risks on paint, textiles and accessories. They're a lot cheaper and easier to change. Plus, we can recycle all the furniture for a second child and still do something that looks completely different.

Colors Used: The paint is Behr. The color is Glamorous. The curtain fabric and lining on the back of the bookcase are from Ikea. The bedding is the Denise Schmidt "What a Dish" collection and the rug is a combination of two different Flor tiles, Toy Poodle in Toto Teal and House Pet in Lizard.

Very fun. Can you tell us how you affixed the fabric to the bookshelf?
Also, where is the great quilt from?

Love the colors! And that's the Loom crib, isn't it? We have the same one for our daughter (haven't put it together yet though.) The Eames Hang-it is wonderful in a kid's room. Where did the butterfly print come from?

I love her room. We have an Eames rocker in our daughters room as well. The plan toy walker and block set is fantastic, my daughter is 9 months and we just bought her one. She loves it. Great job.

Judi,
i applied fabric to the built-in bookshelves in my living room. I used tack nails to hold the fabric at the top and used a spray-on adhesive (found at the fabric store) to cement the fabric to the furniture. Easier with two people, one to hold, one to smooth, but not challenging.

Thanks for the compliments.
I made the butterfly print, but it's a stolen concept. Catherine Swan is the artist that I took the idea from (http://www.paperbutterfly.com.au/index.html).
The quilt is Denise Schmidt.
The "e" came from the Alameda Antiques Fair.
The bookcase is from Ikea, so it has one of those cheap particle board backs. I taped the fabric in place and then nailed the board to the bookcase. When it was all together I trimmed off the extra fabric on the back.
