Ohdeedoh Kids' Color Contest
Entry #25: Retro Mushroom

retromushroom-PIC1.jpg

Name: Emily
Location: Retro Mushroom
Children: Simon, 8 months

Inspiration: the pursuit of gender neutral! We didn't know our son's gender before he was born and we wanted a room that would work for either sex. I had a very hard time finding bedding that wasn't overtly boy or girl.

Inspiration continued:
When i came across Litto's Retro Mushroom bedding I knew I had a winner and I picked the paint color based on the bedding.

Tip for Using Color:
Learn how to mask and seal with painters tape. It is a life saver and the only way to get clean smooth lines when you are painting.

Colors Used:
The lime green is Parker Paint 7685a

I think it looks great - I wouldn't have chosen the color but it looks great together with the furniture.

Our location is actually Seattle WA : )
I made the owl prints - they are ink sketches filled in with watercolor.

I love the visible wood grain in the furniture.

However, cutting in works better than painter's tape for clean lines.

I put up more detailed photos of his art work on my blog www.emilyweaverbrown.typepad.com
The photos above the rocker are my son Simon and my Neighbors daughter. They were born 2 weeks apart. You can also see a close up of them on my blog.

How could a bedroom not work for a baby of a certain gender?
