Inspiration: My daughter's birthday present from me this year was a new room. Her space had become a complete disaster and a clean slate was in order. Plus, she'd hit the double digits and needed something a little more in line with her growing tastes (cough).

Inspiration continued:
I took a look around at accessories she already had and found that the same greens/blues were repeated in quite a bit of her bedding. I suggested green to her and she deemed my suggestion acceptable (ha!). So that's how we found our colors and I saved myself from having to buy new bedding.

Tip for Using Color: Don't forget that you're creating space for a child - a place in which they're going to grow, imagine, dream. Make it special for them - even if it means creating something that's completely different from the other rooms in your home. I think one of the best things my own mother did for me was letting me have creative freedom (within reason, of course) in making my room my home.

Colors Used: Walls: Behr Grape Green 400B-5 (eggshell finish); Floor: Behr Jamaican Sea 510B-5 (high gloss finish)

what fun colors! and what a lucky girl to get a room like that. though my parents did let me paint my room in all sorts of neon colors when i was about that age. this is a bit more sophisticated than my attempt, 20 years ago!

what a great use of color! I would never have imagined putting all of these together, but with the white furniture and shades, it works. Very nice!

Thank you everyone for the nice comments. The wall color was a little scary at first (the web really doesn't do it justice) but I just concentrated on the end results and am happy with it.

BakedPixels, that's a wall decal from blik - probably my favorite thing in the room.
