Ohdeedoh Kids' Color Contest
Entry #9: Desmond's Nursery

Name: Shayla
Location: Calgary, Alberta
Children: Desmond Gray, 4 1/2 months

Inspiration: I saw this great wallpaper, but it was very expensive. We love the forest, which is why the wallpaper made such an impression. My mom is a fabulous painter, so she painted the trees on the wall with the help of a toy projector that belonged to her brother as a child. She also painted the number canvases hung above our crib.

Inspiration continued: My husband made the change table top out of MDF to match the refurbished dresser, which we placed in what used to be a closet. The doors were removed and replaced with curtains to add some much-needed space. Our armoire was found at a farm whose owners had collected antiques over the years and they were clearing everything out. The toy tractor was also purchased there.

Tip for Using Color: Use colors you love and it will always look great.

Colors Used: Benjamin Moore paints in Persimmon and Blue Embelom. The fabric for our curtains was from Walmart, which we also used to refurbish the old dresser/change table.

What size is the room? The layout is very similar to my daughter's small room, and I love the way you have used the space.

I love this room. It's not just a baby room and will continue to be an interesting space for years to come. I looked up the colors on my paint chips and found the blue is much more vibrant than the pictures show.
