Inexpensive Plate Covers Turned Accent Lighting

Stay at home mom Disney, has a great knack for assembling inexpensive, everyday items into fabulous crafts. Her mother (like many), brought her over a 2-pack of microwave plate covers accompanied by the phrase, "I thought you might be able to make something out of this!" See how she transformed them into this pom-tastic wall light after the jump!

In our home, we have whole boxes labeled, "stuff to make things with sometime." Although it seems counter productive to keeping a clean and tidy space, it really helps in instances like this. Disney turned these inexpensive plate covers (found at a local Dollar Tree store) into wall lights with the help of tulle and a string of Christmas lights.

She cut a flap for the cord to hang down and then set to work gluing tufts of tulle onto the outside of the structure. When all was said and done she has a darling light that didn't break the bank and will add a sweet soft glow to any space it might hang. Make sure to check out the full step by step tutorial for this project over at Ruffles and Stuff.

Thanks Disney!
