apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

La Lampe Paul

2007.05.01.nursery.paul1.jpgLighting a room is harder than it looks. And what do you do if your nursery just has an overhead light, and you want something just a little softer?

La Lampe Paul, by Anne Monnier, attaches to the wall and adds some soft light to a child's room. Using a flame-tip chandelier bulb, the light is diffused through a tarlatane shade. Tarlatane is a starched, open-weave fabric - fans of Little Women may remember the girls wearing tarlatane dresses - and its open weave makes it a natural as a lampshade, casting a soft glow of light wherever it is placed.
