Sometimes the best place to look for nursery accessories is a store that has nothing to do with children. Case in point, while browsing through the new Urban Outfitters catalog there were a few lamps we thought were very sweet and charming -- and inexpensive to boot.
Their vintage-inspired whimsical Chirp shade and Wise Owl base (which reminds us of the Tootsie Pop Owl) comes in under $50.
Perusing their Web site, these also caught our eye...
For the nonconformist - the Ceiling Parasol will add a soft light to any nursery. And we couldn't believe it was currently on sale for only $3.99 (the cord is sold separately.)
The fun gnome lamp actually has an internal LED light and is also on sale for only $9.99. This little guy runs on three AAA batteries and comes in white, green or light blue.
For the traditionalist - Urban Outfitters offers more classic lamps you can mix or match with various shades. The Spool Lamp base is $36 and is shown here with the Washi Flower shade.
And, the ultra dramatic Trailing Rose lamp, $48, is softened up for a nursery with a pastel blue shade.
With many more choices, several under $50, the hardest choice we had was which lamp to pick.

How interesting that you should post this here and now! I've been eying that chirp shade and wise owl base for my nursery-to-be since I before I even found I was pregnant! I'm due in September and I'm superstitious about buying things ahead of time, but I've certainly tucked this lamp away in my mind for when my little one arrives.

Yes, that owl lamp is a great idea for a nursery! I have been in love with the Adler giraffe lamp forever but could never pay that much for a lamp for the nursery, so this is a great option. Thanks!
