Lately we've developed a preoccupation with embroidery because it's beautiful, portable (i.e. easily done in front of the telly) and satisfying for beginners. So we've been keeping our eyes out for things to embroider beyond tea towels and baby onesies. This charming lampshade by Doe C Doe fits the bill.
Using a plain white shade and one color floss, Doe C Doe embellished the shade with the letters of the alphabet. You could also choose to do your child's name, a short phrase or poem or any design. She ran into a few obstacles as she went along, but you can read about how she resolved them in her blog entry.
