Explain how Amy Butler inspired this entry: I've always been inspired by Amy's fabric, particularly the unique and modern color combinations. Here, the bright, vivid orange and the pale, soothing green of Amy's Coriander fabric inspired the palette of this entire project. I never would have put these two colors together, and now this combo is one of my favorites!

How did you make your project and what items did you use?: I pieced together a fabric panel from the Amy Butler fabric, linen, white vinyl, and various other quilting cottons, using a pattern of my own design. Then, using batting and a staple gun, I covered a 5' pine board with the fabric panel. I hung a picture hanger on the back in order to mount the growth chart to the wall.

The main fabric I used is Amy Butler's Coriander fabric in Clay. For my coordinating fabrics, I used various green and orange prints from my stash, including Wee Play by American Jane ruler fabric, and two prints from Joelle Hoverson's Cake Rock Beach line. The marking section is made from a white vinyl-ish pleather fabric. I bought the Amy Butler fabric from quilthome.com, and the other fabrics from Purl Patchwork. The vinyl and linen are from the remnants table at Joanns. I use a sharpie to mark the height on the chart. It works great on the vinyl.
