Explain how Amy Butler inspired this entry.:
Amy Butler taught me something big. I was always intimidated by patterns. When I bought In Stitches, she cured me. I wanted to try out her projects so badly that I tried my hand at using a pattern for the first time in too long. Her patterns are so straightforward and easy to follow that it gave me confidence to break out some vintage patterns I had picked up years ago.

How did you make your project and what items did you use?:
I followed a vintage Simplicity pattern to make this dress and pinafore. The dress is made from a cotton solid brown, I wanted something neutral to make the pinafore pop. The pinafore was made from fabric from a tablecloth I found on clearance years ago at K-Mart. I was looking through my stash to find a fabric that I thought Amy would approve of. Always a good rule to follow, not only for this contest!
