Tummy Time Quillow

We must admit that this is our first exposure to a "quillow." We're quite intrigued! Read more about it below the jump...

Explain how Amy Butler inspired this entry:
My mom was given some quillows when I was growing up and I always loved the dual purpose of them, but wondered why the fabric had to be so ugly (one was teal, the other was maroon- both had Southwest scenes on the pillow). About two years ago as a new mother at home, I discovered Amy Butler fabrics and finally made my first quillow using her fabric. I love that by keeping my apartment neutral I can use Amy’s amazing fabrics like art.

How did you make your project and what items did you use?: I made a quilt out of coordinating fabric (by the way Amy Butler fabrics are now available in coordinating solids, yay!). I then made the pillow pocket; it’s kind of like a mini quilt. I attached the pillow pocket to one end of the quillow and that’s it really. When you fold up the quilt and tuck it inside the pocket it looks just like a regular throw pillow.

My grandmother made these for us--they're just wonderful. I especially loved them as a child.
