Project: Baby Sonny's Diaper Bag

Tina was inspired by an Amy Butler pattern and a fun assortment of fabrics to create this diaper bag with an element of surprise within...

Explain how Amy Butler inspired this entry:
The pattern I used was the Weekender Bag by Amy Butler! I'm always intrigued by how Amy Butler's fabrics are so bold and brilliant in color and in pattern. I wanted the same style for this bag, but with more "boyish" colors. The bright surprise is inside the bag with delicious stripes of orange, aqua, green and more!

How did you make your project and what items did you use?
I used the Amy Butler Weekender Bag pattern. Her patterns are always so easy to follow. I tweaked it a bit by adding elastic pockets inside along with a smaller pocket at the top for my wallet and keys. The exterior front pocket is pieced into a log cabin pattern. I also added elastic to the side pockets to keep bottles and other things from sliding out.

Most of the fabrics are cottons from local quilt shops. I used a double sided zipper and corduroy for the solid brown fabric. I also used some extra batting to keep the bag standing a tad bit better. :)
