"Are Women Born This Way?"

That's the title of this video that we think will start your weekend with a laugh. We've found watching the development of a language one of the most amazing parts of being a parent so this video makes us smile.

Our Korean in-laws got us the traditional Korean wooden set of geese when we got married. The geese are symbolic because they mate for life. But the female goose had a ribbon tied around its beak. The little note attached explained that the ribbon's purpose was to keep her from nagging her husband.

What do you think - in your home, have you found your little women to be very verbal at an early age?

Here'swhere we found the video.

No way--my daughter is probably about the same age as the baby in that video, and she is very quiet and contemplative. She babbles a little on and off throughout the day, but I've never heard her go on nearly as much as that baby in the video. I know they say girls tend to have more verbal development earlier than boys, but I don't think that's the same as saying that they are necessarily very chatty.

I'm glad my Korean in-laws didn't get us geese with ribbon around the female's beak for our wedding (geese are nice, the ribbon not so much)--it certainly wouldn't have helped build a good relationship between us!

Definitely girls are more verbal than boys -- at least with my own kids. My daughter was talking in short sentences at 18 months, comparable to my son at 27 months. Even at 32 months, when he gets chatting, most of it is unintelligible to us.

In fact, I keep stressing about his speech, and keep being told it is normal. (hope so)

That little girl is basically my 19 month old BOY right now. He'll have moments of babbling incessantly to anyone and anything. So, I don't think it's necessarily a girl thing.

I like how she's moving her hands the way adults use their hands when they're talking, and how she looks just a little annoyed when Dad (I'm assuming) stops paying attention to her to laugh. She's babbling, but she seems to think she has something important to say!

My 15 month old daughter is just like this. Her voice is a little less high pitched, but she can go on and on and on. 2 months ago my in-laws recently drove her home from my brothers wedding, and since it was nearly midnight, expected her to sleep the whole way. They said for 45 minutes girl did not stop talking- probably about her wonderfully exciting evening. She was going on and on and on... they have 8 other grandkids and said they've never heard anything like it. She started talking at 7-8 months "da-da" and "clap" (as she clapped) were her first words and she's just been babbling "very important" stories ever since.

That is the most irritating sound I have ever heard! Cute kid otherwise, though.
