Last summer, we all drooled over the Bakfiets Cargobike, but with a $2,749 price tag, it was a bit out of reach for many of us. But how about this seemingly more affordable Bakfiets Kangaroo?

The Kangaroo is similar to the Cargobike in function, and both share that chunky Dutch design we're so fond of, but the Kangaroo's canopy has a chuckwagon-esque look that's pure Old West.
At around 700 Euros, we could just about talk ourselves into why this bike isn't just a luxury, it's a necessity. Now the big question is: where can we find one in North America?

Oh, how I wish we could find something like this in the US.... It's a great product, but by the time you convert Euros to Dollars and pay the shipping....Yikes!

Seems like these folks have the monopoly on the US market: http://clevercycles.com/store/?c=web2.68
If you're in the Portland Oregon area, you're in luck. Maybe they will stock the new model?

How about a Workman bike? Made right here in NYC.

They don't have exactly what you're looking for, but I bet they could make it. And their bikes are great, incredibly well made.

I'm between picking a shorty bakfiet and an xtracycle. I'm waiting for an email back from Clever Cycles about the possibility of importing this model.
It's been hard finding something that will work for two children, and I prefer two wheels.

Man, I want a bakfiets! I like the ones with only two wheels, like Clever Cycles sells, but unfortunately I live waaaaaay far from any place that makes these. :( Stupid shipping costs.

Update: Clever Cycles don't do trikes. No plans for importing these or anything of the three wheeled persuasion.

I love the original model. With this model, it seems that if you had the rain shield on your visibility would be greatly limited - looking forward through the cover and vinyl window, which, if raining, can get fogged easily.
