Last night we were passing the J. Crew store in SoHo, when we saw this really cool store display (above, our pic below), featuring a new use of chalkboard paint: as the background for a hand drawn Christmas tree! How simple and fun is that? We then went to the website and found more images of this photoshoot for their kids line...

While the tree is actually drawn on a chalkboard "floor", it could easily be a wall and these other images show you snowy, winter scenes on other chalkboard walls. We've seen a lot of uses of chalkboard paint, but this was one of the best and most whimsical.
Aside from the big tree, we could see a really beautiful wall in our home covered with the snowflakes in the lower photograph.

It also reminded us of one of our favorite books from childhood: Snow by PD Eastman.

JCrew's marketing people are brilliant. I worked for one of their store for over a year, and every time a new campaign came out, it was always really sharp (and that was just in the outlets!). The stuff in the retails store and in their catalog is even cooler.
