Look! Chalkboards Made From Crib Parts

2009-05-headboards.jpg

When twins Nicholas and Gabby were ready to move to big beds, their mom Michelle decided to repurpose their vintage crib headboards and footboards into chalkboards hung at kid-level. It's a nice way to hold onto something you may feel sentimental about as well as providing a small area for artistic play.

Michelle filled the crib screw holes with caulk and sanded and painted them before screwing the new chalkboards to the wall. She writes, "The kids love expressing themselves on the chalkboards and I can leave them little love notes too!"

Sweet idea! Thanks for sharing this and Gabby's Pink Play Kitchen with us Michelle!

Excellent use of something that might otherwise be thown out or craigslisted. Now that's green.

Thanks for letting me share! I forgot to mention, for Gabby's chalkboard, we cut off the legs of the headboard...but on Nick's we just left it as is.
