Look! Collapsible Pint Sized Picnic Table

033109-tables2.jpg We're not usually won over by bland colors and things lacking in the design department, but we were this time. While strolling through our local Costco we happened upon a kids size folding picnic table. What it lacks in hip design, it makes up for in convenience when it comes to having multiple mini guests for dinner, or a place for little ones to get down to arts and crafty business. 033109-tables.jpg These small tables fold up flat, clean easily and are advertised to seat 4. They would be great for a kids table at a dinner party or even just to take outside to have summer adventures (painting and making mud pies!).

033109-tables3.jpg At first glance, we thought the $50 price tag on this baby was a little high. Knowing you can purchase a full adult size table (albeit without seating) for 1/2 this price, it felt a little steep. Although once we thought about where we could store one (under a bed, under a dresser, under a sofa...) we quickly forgot about the price.

Due to their location (at the end of an aisle) we partially expect to see a coupon sent out in the monthly mailers in the near future. So keep your eye out for it to be on sale near you in the up coming months!

Curses! If only we had a Costco near us! This would be perfect for my boys.

You could always paint it to look less basic. :) I like the lack of sharp corners too.

Hah! My parents have an adult-sized version of this table that they put bring out for large family gatherings. It is nothing to look at but does do the job.

The painting's a fun idea but I believe the beige parts you see are plastic/vinyl or whatever composite it is. You might try that Krylon Fusion spray paint, which is supposed to bond with plastic and make it accept the paint (I haven't tried it myself). If not, your paint would probably flake off. Maybe a cute oilcloth tablecloth? Anyway, such a functional table, and the fact that it folds up, nearly makes up for its drabness. I will be on the lookout on my next trip to costco. Thanks for the heads up!
