Jackie and Joe, the owners of this Washington, DC home, cleverly repurposed hooks found throughout their old house into decor. They carefully hung the wall hooks throughout the entryway and kitchen. The old wood base and neatly arranged hooks make for pleasing decor. The hooks also help keep the kids' clothes and knapsacks organized. Click through to see more photos...
Are those carpet samples stitched together to make an area rug? I'm an interior designer (with access to carpet samples galore) and have been plotting to do something similar for years! It's great to see someone else with the same idea. It looks great!!

They totally are carpet samples! Love it . . . tried that once in my kindergarten classroom - each one was a spot for one kid to sit - but the factory binding/my quick stitching combo didn't hold up to 25 kids tromping across them 6 hours a day for very long. But, I probably could have done a better stitching job and I can see it totally working in a home! Great idea!

I wonder if the empty frames hanging above the hooks for children's artwork?

lisamfb: yes, the carpet is samples put together. Very handy for the occasional stain - they just swap out the stained piece!
FrogsPet: Joe built the bookcase on his own.
farleece: the frames were purposely left empty as decor. other areas of the home have been designed as gallery spaces for the kids' art. stay tuned for a full house tour...

Very creative! I also love that bench under the hooks... rustic with clean lines. Where did you purchase it? I am looking for something just like that for our entry.
