Look! German Easter Egg Tree

2009-03-11-german easter eggs.jpg
This would be a fun project and a different way to celebrate Easter than the traditional eggs in a basket.

Instead of coloring hard-boiled eggs, you blow out the eggs and then decorate however you wish. Our favorite part about this German tradition is that you hang the eggs on real branches with buds that will bloom bring spring's rebirth right into your home.

It's not just German!! Czechs do it, Swiss (French and German) do it... lots of others do it.

We use either pussy willows, or flowering quinces, which are a beautiful pink. Actually, we usually do 2 -- one for the dining table and one for the living room.

That's gorgeous. My little boy and I made one just this past week -- but out of a dead plant. No hope of it blooming anytime soon, I'm afraid.

Maybe we should make another -- living -- one soon.
