James and Margaret's New York studio was a finalist in the 2006 Smallest Coolest Contest and was also featured in Apartment Therapy Presents: Real Homes, Real People, Hundreds of Design Solutions. The addition of their son led them to trade in their studio for a 1 bedroom so now their home is a work-in-progress as they carve out space for themselves and their son.
AT New York recently visited them to talk about their plans for the new space. They currently have erected a mock-up wall dividing space between the living room and the baby's room as they plan for a permanent wall that will contain plenty of storage on the baby's side.
We imagine it was hard to leave their unique former space which they had clearly put a lot of time and thought into, but we look forward to seeing how these creative minds incorporate a child into the mix as they develop their new home.
