Anyone planning a summer vacation in Saskatchewan? As you know, we have a slight dollhouse fetish so even though this art installation is a few years old, we thought you'd get a kick out of it. Canadian artist Heather Benning transformed an abandoned farmhouse into a life-sized dollhouse.

The worn exterior of the two-story structure was largely left untouched except for the replacement of one exterior wall with Plexiglass to provide a voyeuristic look into the home akin to a typical dollhouse. Benning has decorated the inside with furnishings from the 1960s, the decade in which the farmhouse was abandoned.
The Dollhouse was finished in 2006 and we aren't able to determine if it's still on view. If you're in Saskatchewan, swing by and find out - it's located off of Highway 2 near Sinclair. Has anyone seen the Dollhouse?

What a wonderful idea! We are planning a trip to Alberta this summer, perhaps a detour to see this in person is in order!

This is so wonderful, the world should be taken over by doll houses!

I'm confused. Your post says the house is sitting in a field in Manitoba. Manitoba is the province located next to Ontario. Saskatechewan is a city in the province of Alberta. So if the house is in Manitoba it should be closer to Winnipeg regardless of where the artist is from. I love the house anyway, but thought you should straighten out your geography. I'm an American but I've been to Canada numerous times and learned the provinces in junior high school.

I stand corrected - Saskatchewan is also a province as well as a city.

This got picked up by the regulary apartment therapy thread as well (http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/boston/artwork/lifesize-dollhouse-by-heather-benning-082557)...
...only over there apparently the doll house is in the province of Manitoba instead of Saskatchewan.
Interesting.

Motherbear... I think you mean that Saskatoon is a city in the province of Saskatchewan.
I live in Manitoba and have never heard of this dollhouse but will definitely make a drive out to Saskatchewan to visit! Very cool.
