While surfing through the archives, we found this mod nursery at American Baby. The description reads:
Avoiding babyish pastels and choosing bright, stimulating colors creates an unthemed place that can change as the tiny resident grows into his or her own interests. An easy-to-replicate colorful grid wall like this sets off the overhead plywood art hung from the ceiling.
We like the look of the traditional white furniture pieces against a very bold and modern backdrop.
The homeowners created the ceiling fixture by cutting squares out of plywood and painting them with the leftover wall paint. Each square is hung in overlapping layers from thin chains screwed into the ceiling. The diy-ers also painted contrasting blocks of color on the walls to frame out artwork.

love the ceiling panels
love this! i'd be scared to use that brown as the main color of a nursery, but it works really well here. i also really like how the white shelf is incorporated into the grid on the crib wall. and this is the first time i've seen one of those wavy mirrors where it didn't look completely cheesy! some great ideas here.
Love it! So much eyecandy without being over-the-top!
Like meg, I'm not sure I'm brave enough for the dark wall/ceiling, but I love the ideas behind the design of this room.
this is hot!!
