Look! Quilted Checkerboard

2008-02-21-checkers.jpg

Here's another entry in the non-plastic checkers category (see nature-inspired checkers here). Blogger, I Heart Linen, appropriately used grey linen and bright yellow cotton fabrics to create this crafty interpretation of classic checkers.

She made a small quilt (10" x 10") and then covered buttons with fabric. Not only do we think this is much more attractive than a cardboard and plastic checkers set, the fabric board will roll up and travel easily and the buttons pieces can come along in a Ziploc.

Visit I Heart Linen at her blog (and congratulate her on her 100th post).

i love it! One could make a little pouch for it all.. with a coordinating button closure. I'm inspired!

I was just about to say, all you need is a sewn in pocket on the other side to put the pieces, and maybe a tie, or button closure and its a complete set for travel or to store. very nice!
