Tamago means "egg" in Japanese. We're not sure if the name references the soft contours of this furniture series or the fact that it's made of the same material as egg cartons - 100% recycled paper pulp - but we do know there's something innately appealing about this lightweight set of children's furniture. Consisting of seven pieces (a desk, a bench, and assorted stools) and available in several colors, Tamago invites your child to personalize it with markers, paint, or whatever strikes their fancy.
Look! Tamago
Tamago was unveiled last week at the DMY Youngsters division of the International Design Festival in Berlin. The series was created by Merci Design of Latvia, whose philosophy is "to create new, innovative products that minimize their impact on the environment while maximizing the impact on your life."
Right now, there's no word on pricing or sourcing, though Merci does state that Tamago will come with an affordable price tag.
