Look!: Tiny Eyes

2007_08_09_tin_eyes.jpg
See the world through the eyes of a baby. Do you love gazing into your baby's eyes and the intense stare you get back? Of course your baby is in love with you, but they're fixated on your eyes because of the contrast between the pupil and the white of the eye whereas they can barely distinguish your nose and mouth. We found a website that lets you upload any image and see it how babies of different ages see it.

The website is Tiny Eyes and you can choose to see images as a newborn, 1-month, 2-month, 3-month or 6-month old. We often hear that high-contrast imagery is most interesting to babies, but seeing what they see for yourself may make you rethink the toys, books and decor you surround your baby with in his or her early months.

Is this something you think about when buying things for your baby?

That is seriously way cool... and confirms my belief that the proper stuffed toy for a baby is a skunk (high contrast!) rather than a sweetly pastel bear or rabbit.

I suppose I could switch to pandas, too... or zebras.
