Look! Two Great Projects by NieNie

2007-07-20-nienie1.jpg

Colorful yarn orbs adorn a corner of two sisters' room. Stephanie Nielson (aka NieNie), mama to two daughters, created this simple installation. So sweet and something even we could do over the weekend...

Stephanie also applied her special touch to this found bookcase. A coat of paint and well-chosen retro wallpaper transforms it into a swan.

Both projects can be tackled by newbie DIYers on tight budgets.

And here I'd been wondering what to do with the rest of a yarn skein after my project needed only 24"... many, many non-sweet variants on the hanging galaxy of yarn are also possible...

How great for a kid's room!

(I'd dust it with a vacum cleaner hose with round brush.)

Ooh, I love the yarn idea! But I LOVE LOVE LOVE that old cabinet hanging over the bookshelf. That is too perfect!

How did she attach the balls of yarn to the ceiling? It doesn't look like there are hooks.
