Attractive toy storage is a must for any family with children. We love this upholstered toy chest spotted over at Design Sponge. Can you tell what it was in a past life?

A military locker! Found for $3, this clever mom used some batting and fabric to cover the grungey find and stenciled the fabric to make it even more precious. Check out more photos at Design Sponge.
I'd love to do this - I even have an old trunk, batting, and fabric - I'm curious to know HOW it was done - I'd hate to leave exposed staples from a staple gun, etc.
My friend also recommend I change out the hinges for the type that can't slam onto a child's fingers.

If you actually read the post the chest isn't actually made from the old army foot locker.
The mom was grossed out by the smell of it and went to home depot and built her own.
