Baby Gifts: Kate Spade's Pippin Line

2007.04.12.nursery.katespade1.jpg

Baby gifts are tough, sometimes. Finding modern, well designed gifts can be a real challenge, which is why we were thrilled to see Kate Spade's baby line, Pippin. For traditionalists, there are gender distinctions - blue plates for boys, and pink for girls, but we like the modern design, and the fact that Spade deviates from the colour schemes a bit with the green and orange. Each 3 piece set, above, $75. Below, a few more fun items from the Pippin line.

Silver plate and enamel feeding sets, in either pink or blue, compliment the 3 piece plate/bowl sets, and are just $30.00. And nothing is more traditional than a silver baby cup. Spade does both a pink and a blue one; above, the pink version, $30.00.

We also found Kate Spade's baby announcements while looking at the Pippin line, and this one, above, cracked us up. Red is a bold choice for a baby announcement, and we like a bold choice!

Aw, I think this stuff is so cute! It seems to me that over the years Kate Spade has excelled at the home goods game and not done so well in the world of purses. That's my opinion anyway. I love the elephant plate, it's so adorable. And $30 for a silver cup doesn't seem so bad, right? But my favorite is the baby announcements. I'll have to bookmark that one for when I have an announcement of my own ;)

ok, so i love the look of these and the first time i saw them, i went right away to purchase a set for myself. but they're china! (or porcelain, or something breakable, anyway.) not super practical for baby to actually use. i just wish they were melamine!!
