Bloom Launches in U.S.

2007-02-21-fresco
We've been following Bloom Baby for awhile. And we understand that it's finally making its debut in the U.S.

The piece de resistance is the Fresco high chair (also available in orange) - it features 360° rotation, multiple reclining positions and pneumatic height adjustment. Very 2001: A Space Odyssey. Suggested retail price is a hefty $400.

2007-02-27-nano
For those who don't have a dedicated space for a highchair, the Nano collapses flat so you can store it away.
2007-02-21-coco
Other highlights of the much anticipated collection include the Coco bouncy seat. If price is no object, we're partial to the plexiglass version ($350) over the wood option ($200).
2007-02-27-soho

In the Bugaboo price category, Bloom offers the Soho stroller complete with accessories for $800.

Bloom is a welcome addition to the growing collection of modern baby furniture and gear. Prices are on the high-end. You can contact ModernTots to place pre-orders. Products are expected to ship in mid-May.

No open thread here. So I am taking a chance to post a relevant question here -

We are invited to a birthday party of my colleague's one year old boy. The e-vite says : Please do not bring any gifts. Should we go by that ?

Thanks

yes! by all means, if it says "no gifts" - respect that. its easier than having to figure out what to do with a million toys that the kid probably doesn't need in the first place. if you feel like you *must* bring something - get the hosts something for the party - a dessert item or wine (or sparkling cider, whatev).

That bouncer is gorgeous. I got the Oeuf lounger, is pretty good looking too, but this one, damn! Too bad you can only use them until baby can support his own head. Otherwise it might be worth spending a bundle!

In the desert-

The parents will be grateful that you're actually observing their request. There's a growing no gift movement (in part because our homes are already crammed with stuff and some kids are getting a preening sense of entitlement).

You can see more about it here:

Hmm, I am not buying this company. The high chairs seem to take a step backward in that you cannot pull up to the regular dining table which is the direction that high chairs are going. Plus it is a pain to collapse and reopen a highchair 3-4 times a day. The stroller looks like a bulky Graco and a $200-300 bouncy seat??? Sorry, Bloom is not a welcome addition but another over-priced pseudo high-design company taking advantage of first-time parents who assume that getting the best products means paying outrageous prices.

dnd, I saw both of these chairs when they were announced in Europe. In many European countries, they prefer to pull the chair up to the table instead of using any tray. Both of these high chairs have removable trays and support bars, so the chair can be pulled completely up to the table.
I don't understand your comment about opening/collapsing your highchair 3-4 times a day. Why do you do that? Most people just put the highchair away when they have guests and/or the highchair is in the way. It also seems a bit presumptuous to assume that they are forcing first time parents to do anything. They are simply providing products to the consumers who may be interested, the same as any manufacturer (at least any that doesn't have a monopoly.)

sawit & dnd
i saw the high chair in an amazing kids store in paris and the shopkeepers were displaying it without the two removable trays, pulled up to a table (just as the frenchies/euros like it) - the cool chrome-like cross bar looks very very sleek.

they had a second one in the shop with all of the trays taken off and there were 3 & 4 year olds sitting in it like a space-aged desk chair - maybe it will take something like this to get my kids to do their homework!!
