A few weeks ago, we came upon these little packets at our local Trader Joe's. Called "crushers" the packets contain applesauce that you squeeze and eat/drink from the capped spout.

They are perfect for outings in a stroller - just uncap and hand to your toddler. No need for a spoon. We keep a small supply in our pantry now for special outings. We've also seen an apple/carrot combination which we have yet to try. Anyone else try these?

I tried a mango one by a different brand that I found at Babies R Us in their food section. Worked out really well and went over well with the little one. I haven't bought any more but wouldn't be opposed to buying them if I saw them in more places. My grocery store doesn't carry them and I don't get to Trader Joes or Babies R Us as often as the regular ol' grocery store.

we have a couple of brands that use these pouches in the UK for all sorts of food - from fruit to main courses. They are fantastic for traveling since they don't break and limit the mess, even if you do squeeze them onto a spoon. I also like that you don't contaminate what's left so you get more chances to use up an uneaten pouch.

Wow. What a waste with all that packaging.

Love the idea of the flavour BUT that plastic packaging won't make me buy it. I'd rather have some more recyclable

Personally, I would LOVE these for trips with my kids! How much waste is it really? Any worse than a plastic spoon and an applesauce container? I just think of long car rides and how much easier with less mess this would be.

Love these little things! My 2 year old son is crazy about applesauce so they are perfect for preschool lunches as using a spoon is a little to messy for him. We also love them for hiking! He likes both flavors. The plastic waste is worth the quick healthy snack! No more waste then similar kids snack items!

I would love to toss a few of these in my desk drawer at work. Alas, we have no Trader Joe's in Denver :(

I buy these all the time for my kids. They love the applesauce, but they actually prefer the apple carrot flavor....even though none of them really like carrots. It's good, it almost tastes citrusy or something.
I really loved these when my baby was first eating solids because I could just toss one into my purse and I knew I had something that she could eat. It was easy to just squeeze a little onto a spoon for her, and when she was done, I could just screw the cap back on and hang onto it for later in the day.
Also, I saw an organic version of these in my regular grocery store for more than twice the price of TJ's.

i've never seen this, it looks amazing...applesauce is crack to my daughter. does anyone know the age range for this? just concerned about the possibility of choking on the cap? i'm a little neurotic i know...

I'm definitely stopping by Trader Joe's before this weekends road trip to pick some up!

jaime, the package says for three and up, likely because of the cap. our two year old eats it no problem, but ymmv.
my kids also prefer the carrot-applesauce flavor. i wouldn't even get a kid used to the plain applesauce with a beefed-up version out there! the packaging is rough, but we are so cautious in other areas, that we do "splurge" packaging-wise on this and use it as needed.

These things are super popular amongst french parents... and maybe not surprisingly, the ones from TJ's are actually produced in France. Our little one loves them both, and we do too. As for the chocking concern, he's never managed to put the cap in his mouth, I think it is conveniently too big.

it's about time - been buying them overseas and bringing them home for years. the best ones are by Ella's Kitchen a UK company. supposed to be available in limited flavours in US.

I agree about the packaging - unfortunate but worth the convienence when traveling...

The packaging...oh the packaging. I understand convenient foods but jeez louise! Just bring an apple or a banana or a slice of bread - especially for ages three and up. My child has never starved on the road and has never had an apple crusher. What did we all do before they were available?

I have been waiting for these to come to the USA for a longtime. Used to bring them back from France when travelling. Whole Food carries them also under the "GoGo squeeze" name. These are great lunchbox healthy fillers, healthy snacks when out to practices and great for travels!! The plastic is recyclable and not worst than the plastic and aluminum cups.

I saw these at BabiesRUs and thought about purchasing some but will wait til my little guy is a bit older. A friend gave one to her 1 year old and shared the photos with me later- HUGE mess! He squeezed it all over himself and his highchair and then slapped his hands in it til it ended up all over the walls...
I do like the idea of squeezing it onto a spoon when you're out traveling somewhere- seems like that would control the mess better! Wonder if it can stay unrefrigerated for a while once you've uncapped it?

My two little ones love the Apple-Carrot. I haven't even let my almost 4 year old know that it comes in a regular apple version. I take the cap off and give it to them - it gets sucked down really quickly! I love that you posted about it!
