Seeing the lines to check out, we sadly abandoned the idea of an igloo cake (or maybe even an igloo village), but we just noticed that it's on sale for $11 on Macy's website so our plans are revived.
If you're more the DIY type, you could also try your hand at an igloo cake (sans mold) by following these directions.

For an alternative penguin option, I recommend the Cream Cheese Penguins on allrecipes.com. I made an igloo cake last year with the little penguins on the side and it was hit at the party =) The penguins don't taste great (unless you like olives with a lot of cream cheese), but they look cute and are easy to make.

i am blown away to see this -- just last night for my son's 1st birthday we had an igloo cake. i just baked it in a pyrex bowl, though, and used half a cupcake for the door. easy and free!
