Japanese Wooden Lacquerware Set

2009-05-14.jpg

We keep a set of wooden lacquerware rice bowls in our kitchen and reach for them when we want to change things up. This children's set of Japanese wooden lacquerware is wood coated with a natural lacquer.

The natural lacquer coating is made from the resin of a particular type of tree. The coating is food safe, waterproof and resists acids and high temperatures. It's of course BPA-free as well. But it's not dishwasher or microwave safe. So if you're trying to avoid plastic for your kids, are afraid of breakage and don't like metal, this makes for a great compromise. You get a bowl, cup, fork and knife. Get it here.
