Petite Watermelons

2009-03-13-watermelon.jpg

Have you seen the new breed of petite watermelons? No, we're just kidding. But how adorable are these "petite watermelons" from Chocolate on my Cranium? Find out how to make your own for your child's next tea party.

According to Chocolate on my Cranium, you need 2 limes,1 small box of red Jello, and mini chocolate chips. Cut limes in half lengthwise. Scoop out all the fruit with a spoon. Place the limes in a muffin tin to keep them from tipping over. Make the box of Jello according to the Jiggler directions. Carefully spoon Jello into the limes halves. Chill until almost firm. Using a skewer push the mini chocolate chips into the Jello for "watermelon seeds." Chill until until firm, then cut into slices. Enjoy!

these are cool, but would be way better if the whole thing was edible. what about candy-ing the lime rinds before adding the jello?

Super cute and inventive idea. I think it's appropriate the rinds are disposable... when was the last time you ate a watermelon rind?
