Railway Cake Pan from Williams-Sonoma

williams-sonoma-traincakepan.jpgWe choo-choo-choose this pan! On a recent trip to Williams-Sonoma we spotted their fun railway cake pan and were momentarily stunned by the potentially killer cakes we could create with this beauty.

We also have some Flickr Finds below the jump...

A Williams-Sonoma exclusive, the Railway Cake Pan features nine different train cars that can be decorated any way you please. We love how they've used white cocktail toothpicks to recreate a plume of smoke. The cast aluminum cake pan is nonstick and only $34. Get your gummi bears and black licorice sticks ready!

And of course, Flickr (the finder of all things cool) has some great examples of how their members have been using the pan: there's Hannah Hoosier's creation; Blu Sun Carrie's; and Shabby Mommy 3's chocolate cake.

I am absolutely addicted to William S cake pans. I already own 7 of them! They're pretty much my biggest luxury splurge. And when you can find them at an outlet for $11, they're not even a luxury anymore!

I only have one teensy tiny complaint - storing the darn things. They're very oddly shaped, and resist most stacking or under the cupboards solutions.

The pans are so beautiful and nicely sculpted on the outside - it really makes me wish they'd thought ahead and added a hole or two in the rim for easy hanging. They'd look lovely on the wall.

I guess some day I'll have to figure out a hanging system of my own. Perhaps some little metal plate-holder-like hooks, dipped in rubber so they don't damage the nonstick finish...

Uh actually it's not exclusive to WS. I've seen them at a Corningware Corelle Revere store for about $30 if I remember correctly.
