Bamboo Kids Dining Set by FunFam

042009-funfam-1.jpgAhhh... a place for everything, and everything in its place. Sadly for us, this is definitely one of those form-over-function kids' products. From both an aesthetic and a latent-OCD perspective, this bamboo dining kit is thrillingly pleasing. On a practical level, we're not even sure what all those place settings are for, and have a hard time believing we can convince our favorite four-year-old - who can barely be coaxed into using one fork - to learn them. But we can still dream...

As a "victim" of being raised by a flock of southern women, I was always told that learning proper table etiquette, while best practiced at home, was really for those times when you don't want to be embarrassed in public. I swear I can still hear my grandmother saying, "There will be a time when you're out to dinner with a nice young man and you won't want to look like poor white trash."

Nice.

The handful of times when I've been in such an extremely proper setting, I've been thankful for these lessons.

That still didn't stop me from accidentally yanking the tablecloth and half the drinks on our table into my lap during a formal dinner at The Grand Hotel a couple of years ago.

I was doing pretty well up until then.
