Assigned seating. We used to argue with our sisters over who got to use favorite plates at the table ("I want the blue one..."). AT Reader Elizabeth tipped us off to these sweet customized plates so each family member can have their own.
Customized Plates by Fontaine Maury
They come in a bevy of beautiful graphic designs with interchangeable colors and typeface. If you'd rather promote family unity, you can have your family name on them instead.
The plates are melamine, not ceramic, so they are safe for your dishwasher, but not for your microwave.
The plates are sold by Fine Stationery. Each 10" round plate costs $20.
