Decorating Fruit

2008-03-24-packinglunch.jpg

Did your mom or dad ever leave you notes in your lunchbox? It's a nice way to send some love your kids' way when you're not together. We used to get notes on our napkin. But this photo gave us the idea of sending a special message via fruit.

A cute face drawn on the peel of an orange or a banana is a fun way to put a smile on your child's face during lunch time.

I've been writing on bananas for a while. Smooth and long enough to write slightly more meaningful notes to my hubby.

My dad also used to write notes on bananas for our lunches. Ball point pen works best.

What a sweet idea! This would have made me feel very special when I was a little girl.

Jamie Oliver has a nice tip for writing on bananas; don't use ink, just scratch the message into the banana skin with a knife, then the message doesn't appear 'till a bit later when the scratches go brown.
