How To: Kids' "Spice" Labels

2008-03-20-spices.jpg

We don't know if there's a Wheat Germ Council or not, but we've always thought that was one food that could do with a name change - especially if you're trying to get kids to eat it. Some kids naturally gravitate toward healthy foods, but, let's face it - most don't. One clever mother devised a fun way to encourage her kids to eat the good stuff.

Megan is the mother of three small ones and has introduced the idea of adding what she calls "sprinkles" to foods. Sprinkles may include wheat germ, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, flax seeds, sugar, salt, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and her kids put them on broccoli, yogurt, applesauce, etc.

To make it more fun, she had them re-name the sprinkles and draw labels for them. Read more about her idea at her blog, Plum Pudding. We imagine it's also fun for the parents, especially when asked to please pass the shark bites.
