Invisible Lollipops

2009-10-22-lollipops.jpg

We don't see many trick-or-treaters on our street so we like to hand out extra special treats to the few that do come calling. These invisible lollipops found over at Martha Stewart might be making their way into treat bags this year.

To make a dozen of these clear beauties, you'll need 2 cups of sugar, 2/3 cup of light corn syrup, and assorted candies and seeds. Martha used red and black licorice whips, candy corn, and pepitas (hulled pumpkin seeds) for the ones pictured above. Decorating these invisible lollipops could be a great project for the kids as well. Read her full set of instructions here.

don't be fooled by the pretty picture, if you follow the instructions to a t, you will end up with burnt, black, spooky, but inedible lollipops! At least we did. Martha Stewart let me down with her recipes once again!

mom use to make "stain glass candy". using a simular recipe. you must have a candy themomador! she tented hers with red and added cinnimon oil for flavor. but if she did make any clear they were slightly yellow not glass clear like these. i was under the impression that you could not make home made candy for trick or treaters....but this would be perfect for our neighbor kids that we know...and we wouldnt have to make many!
