Make Mealtime Easier with Serving Trays

Bringing a meal for my son and I from the kitchen to the dining room involves scaling two baby gates and running a gauntlet of two hungry cats and one toddler in training to be a defensive tackle. Needless to say, the fewer trips the better. So today I want to sing the praises of one of the unsung heroes in my daily life: the humble serving tray.

In my former pre-child life, trays denoted formality and seemed best suited for serving tea and biscuits when someone you wanted to impress dropped by (perhaps the Queen). Now my small Ikea tray (not the one pictured above) is a workhorse and used for every meal. Any tray will do really, but I've rounded up a few colorful ones. I've found that I don't need (or want) a very large tray so I can easily tuck it away at meal's end. I also like melamine because it washes up easily and is lightweight.

Lambi Birch Veneer Tray ($22)

Isak Serving Tray ($32)

Barbar Tray ($6)

Marimekko Kanteleen Kutsu Tray ($48)

Doll Face Tray (£30.00)

We've been using 3 different sized trays to serve snacks and meals for a while now. We love it..my girls request small or "great big giant" tray depending on how hungry they are :-)
