I wish I could find a glass bottle the same shape as the Avents we've been using since Max was a newborn. The thing with all the glass bottles I've seen on the market is that the nipple is so narrow. The nipples on the Avent bottles are more squat, and allow for a wider latch -- a latch that breastfed babies are used to making while at the breast. I got some of the Evenflo bottles and I noticed a big difference in how wide my son was willing to open his mouth while breastfeeding afterward. I wish Avent would make a glass version of their bottle. Sigh.

Robin, I bet as more parents start using glass, more shapes will be available--don't you think Avent and Dr Brown will want to put out their own glass bottles eventually?
These look great--the addition of the rubber sleeve is a wonderful idea. If we needed bottles, I'd get some of these.

Just a note about Avent though -- their sippy cups are safe (cloudy plastics are ok, and the last one I bought was labelled as such). It is just the clear plastic bottles that are not safe.

It always felt wrong to pump milk and put it in a plastic baby bottle when our own milk came from glass bottles... only at the time, it was almost impossible to track glass baby bottles down. Now that they are popular again, maybe someone will change the shape so that a better nipple can be used.

Dr Brown's glass bottles come out in 2008.

Just a note. As a society, we have been using BPA for 40 years. I only found one study on BPA and chemicals leaching and that was with rats, so it is unclear how it would metabolize in humans. There is definitely a hysteria raging about this issue right now.

you are all crazy. who cares what we put into our bodies, let alone our babies' bodies. they're cute, but eh....

i know the jury's still out on all the bpa stuff, but for exactly that reason i think i'll avoid it. besides sometimes is simply a matter of 'why would you?'. even if it's not necessarily harmful isn't it better to avoid putting any extra chemicals or products in your child's body (or your own)?

I believe the sleeve is silicone, not rubber.

(they corrected me on it when I referred to it as rubber)

Thanks for interest in our WeeGo bottles. The sleeve is made out of silicone (not rubber or plastic), which is non-toxic. Silicone is very expensive to produce, therefore increasing the price of the product. We will be making a 4 oz bottle and shorter 9 oz bottle soon.
