We love music but a lot of what's out there for babies is less than lovely to the ear. It seems kind of odd that many mothers play Mozart on headphones for their babies while they're still in the womb, but once they enter the world, they listen to child-like adult voices singing abc's.
While there may be a time and a place for that- how about lullabying your baby to sleep to a remix (baby style) of your favorite Coldplay album? Baby Rock Records might be the perfect shower gift for music afficionados.
Coldplay not your favorite? There are plenty of albums to choose from- including U2.
Or how about a little Bjork? These remakes of the album's orginal covers are great. One caveat- remember this is music for babies. There may be one too many glockenspiels or bells in some of these for our personal taste, and many parents who are music lovers may prefer to create a mix of original softer rock songs. But we still like this idea for its creativity and we're pretty sure baby will fall into a peaceful sleep while listening to the soothing sounds of Metallica or Radiohead.
We've had the Radiohead and Cure lullabies since the holidays and have really enjoyed them. The producer/musicians have made some really thoughtful choices as to the parts of the originals to highlight. The result a peaceful musical swirl that pleases all the ears in the apartment. We've been been using both as background dinner music.
Thanks, we are always on the hunt for good family and baby music! I always struggle with the family dinner time music, will have to give these a shot.
