Type of space: Deck and Garden

Tell us about your outdoor project and how you enjoy it: This is a round fold-up table dressed up as a little princess pavilion! Originally intended to be completed last winter for my daughters to play in during the long winter months, it didn't get made till the summer. It turned out to be a great way for the girls to enjoy the hot mornings on our deck - they hide in its shade to read books, do coloring, enjoy a mid-morning snack and host tea parties - and their dolls come too, to play in the attic! In the evenings...

...we sometimes bring it down to the backyard where the girls have played princesses (of course), tornado or just have the neighbors come over to visit. Our littlest princess (she's 14 months old) hasn't quite caught on to dress-up and tea parties but she likes playing peekaboo at the windows. When we are done with it, we remove the supporting dowels in the roof, fold it up into a neat package and put the table back into storage.

How did you create it?:
The fabric is thrifted twill and cotton bedlinen from garage sales, along with some stash scraps for accents. The roof is supported by dowel spines and the front panel zips open to allow access to the "attic space". The door and curtain tie backs are fastened with velcro so little hands can manage them by themselves. More pictures, printable instruction sheets and ideas for variations (for boys, too) can be found here.

Super cute. Guess I could do a Circus theme for a boy?
