Sally added to nature's beauty by gussying up the park for a party for Ruby Luz: We wanted a low key party for our little princess's first birthday. Just her close friends & family at our local park. Our inspiration definitely came from all the fabulous parties & posts from Ohdeedoh.
Being a little girl's 1st party, her theme had to be pink. Her invitations were little flowers picked up from Target, so that started off the garden/flowers/pink theme. I made the decorations at night over the course of a week making the tissue paper flowers & cardboard flower garland. Plenty of pink & red balloons... this always provides hours of entertainment for the kids. We hired a balloon twisting entertainer which had the kids in awe. On the menu was champagne for the adults, cupcakes, popcorn, organic jellybeans, juice & a caterpillar cake. (I'm glad this is just the 1st year & I have plenty of years to practice my baking skills!)
Thanks, Sally!
We love a good party! If you'd like to share the good ideas and photos from your child's celebration with the Ohdeedoh community please submit through the My Party form found here.
Cute and not too fussy!

I love the tissue paper flowers and garlands - how did you make them?

Annie, I have a tutorial on my blog for tissue paper flowers:
http://pennycarnival.typepad.com/penny_carnival/2008/06/theyre-a-far-cr.html
The ones you see in my post aren't as big as the ones here, but you can make mine bigger just by using larger sheets of tissue paper.
And then, once you fold the tissue paper like an accordion, cut the ends of the paper in different ways (scalloped edges, pointy edges) to give the flowers some variety.

Annie, i made the tissue paper flowers the same way as on penny's blog. For the flower garlands it's super easy, i cut out cardboard flower shapes, then used a hole punch in the centre. I then tied & thread through some ribbon!! Glad you like them!
