There is a PA system, scanner, Blaupunkt stereo, real working siren (yikes!) and lights, ladder, decals, hardware and even shiny automobile paint. The firetruck bed even sits on a mat that looks like the floor of a fire station. The father didn't overlook any details.

In his daughter's room, this talented father built a dollhouse-like cottage complete with a shingled roof and frong and flower boxes outside the "windows."

The set of double doors open up tot reveal a Murphy bed. He even painted the ceiling blue, added a tree and flowers on the walls and strung up a hammock as a reading nook.
So why go to such lengths? The father explains:
The bedrooms in houses these days are so small, the kids hardly have room to play or turn around by the time you putin a bed and dresser. This gives the kids a lot more room.
More pics are available here. What do you think - over the top or too much fun?
I think it's indulgent, but maybe I'm just secretly jealous because no one I know is handy enough--nor patient enough--to do something like this. The article doesn't go into how much input/involvement the kids had into designing/making the rooms, which would have been great bonding time with Dad. Still...I bet these kids have awesome slumber parties!

Wow, I think that's amazing. More power to the dad for being able to do that. When I was a kid, this would have thrilled me!

Dude! Did you see that kid's FLAME SHEETS? Sweet! I'm not a kid, and I'm still thrilled.

Oh my! These are by far some of the most elaborate Murphy Beds I have ever seen, very impressive integration into a children's room.
I recently purchased a Murphy Bed from Old Creek (www.wallbedfactory.com), my husband and I had been searching for months and finally found the perfect compromise (the Hudson model), which worked well for my design theme.
If there is anyone looking for a well priced Murphy Bed with excellent quality and designs, check out www.wallbedfactory.com
But I simply love the ones in this post for children!
